As we have mentioned about examinations and routine and even getting ranking in Worlds Universities list, Tribhuvan University has a long history in Nepal. Named after Late King Tribhuvan, it was established in the year 1959 and is known as T.U. in short.

 Marking it as the oldest and largest University of Nepal, it is located at Kirtipur, Kathmandu. In terms of enrollment as well it is quite ahead being the 12TH largest Universities in the world. Since T.U. is government funded public University of Nepal, the tuition fees are not much expensive in comparison to the TU affiliated private colleges in Nepal. As to which, there are 1,100 private TU affiliated colleges whereas the University altogether offers with 2,079 undergraduate and 2,000 postgraduate programs.

Now, just talking about the University and its surrounding, it has a huge land area of 154.77 hectares where you can find the University’s Central Campus and Central Administrative Office. In regard to that of location, it is located 5 km south west of Kathmandu city. Besides having the academics buildings, the University also has a Central Library and an International Cricket Ground inside its premises. Whereas it’s teaching faculty, the University has altogether 15,072 staffs which include teaching, non- teaching and support staffs.

The main objectives of the University are to produce skilled manpower, preserve and develop cultural heritages of the country, to provide knowledge and encourage research works in various fields of education including the vocational ones. For this reason, the University also has five of its own Research Centers. Besides that, since the University is government owned till date, the head of the state government- the Prime Minister automatically becomes its Chancellor. Therefore, SHer Bahadur Deuba; the current Prime Minister of Nepal and also the former alumni of TU is the Chancellor.

With having affiliation even to Colleges in rural areas of Nepal such as Jumla, Rukum, etc. it is ranked among 251-300 best Universities in Asia.
