The Times Higher Education World University published Rankings 2021 of various Universities in the world. Altogether, there were over 1,600 Universities across 99 countries and territories. In this very ranking, Tribhuvan University (T.U.); one of the pioneer of Universities in Nepal have marked a position between 801-1000.
The ranking is done on the basis of four categories which are- on the basis of teaching, research, knowledge transfer and International outlook. The ranking of T.U. although had been secured in the same number i.e. 801-1000 back in 2019, it had slipped its position to 1000+ last year but gained back by 486 position this year.
In regard World’s context, The Top University of this year has been declared to be Oxford University which is followed by California Institute of Technology, Harvard University and Stndford University among the major ones. While in South Asia, The Indian University of Science (IISc) has topped the place which is then followed by Indian Institute of Technology.
The country which represented the most Universities is The United States with total of 183 Universities. Meanwhile, in context to that of Nepal, in the last four years, only Tribhuvan University from Nepal has made it to the rankings. Besides T.U., Kathmandu University (K.U.) had also submitted for the ranking. However, it is mentioned that the University failed to meet the eligibility criteria in order to receive a rank.
