Girl students not returning School after Covid_19 hit

The girl students who were studying in Schools now have not been returning back to their Schools after Covid_19 since the virus has affected the entire globe not just health wise but also in financial way.

According to a UNESCO Institute of Statistics, it is mentioned that the educational institutions due to the pandemic has put an estimated 4.5 million girl students at risk of missing Schools. It is mentioned that the some girls who were studying have not returned to their Schools post pandemic and still have more risk on thousands of girls which eventually could impact the education in long run especially on the marginalized girls.

The report further mentions about how it could impact on gender equality along with other risks such as child labour, gender based violence, early and forced marriage, etc. On similar note, Binay Kusiyait- a Professor of Tribhuvan University mentioned about how girls’ access to education had significantly increased in the last two decades fearing the old system to be back due to financial crisis post Covid_19 at least to certain extent.

Although the retention of students studying in School had been a challenge even before pandemic, it has further deteriorated the situation of students to attend now. As to which an economic survey for the fiscal year 2020 and 021 shows over two-thirds of students enrolled in Grade 1 dropped out significantly by the time they reached Grade 12. The Schools were closed since March 2020.
